content farm: <\/span><\/strong>a bad practice used to create low-quality content and hope that it will rank.<\/span><\/p>\n

conversion<\/span>:<\/span><\/strong> each time a user does what the advertiser wants to make money. i.e buying a product, putting their email, etc…<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

conversion <\/span><\/strong><\/span>rate<\/strong><\/span>: it’s a percentage that measures the number of conversions compared to the clicks.<\/span><\/p>\n

cookie expiration: <\/span><\/strong>the time you have to make a sale after the click thanks to cookies. (usually 30 days).<\/span><\/p>\n

cookies<\/span>: <\/span><\/strong>objects that a browser is able to read containing information.<\/span><\/p>\n

cost per lead<\/span> (CPL): <\/span><\/strong>a model that will pay you when a user put their email.<\/span><\/p>\n

cost per sale<\/span> (CPS): <\/span><\/strong>same as CPO also called PPS (pay per sign up)<\/span><\/p>\n

cost per view (CPV): <\/span><\/strong>you will get paid when someone is viewing something.<\/span><\/p>\n

crawlers<\/span>: <\/span><\/strong>search engines and advanced software uses a crawler to understand web pages.<\/span><\/p>\n

creative<\/span>: <\/span><\/strong>another word for banners.<\/span><\/p>\n

CSV file: <\/span><\/strong>excel format file that contains info that many software can read.<\/span><\/p>\n

daily budget: <\/span><\/strong>the amount of money that you are willing to spend a day.<\/span><\/p>\n

data feeds: <\/span><\/strong>a list of products including all the info of a product.<\/span><\/p>\n

deep linking<\/span>:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>it’s when you create an affiliate link that goes to a specific page of your choice.<\/span><\/p>\n

demand-side platforms (DSP):\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>it’s a place where you can buy digital ads inventory.<\/span><\/p>\n

demographics<\/span>:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>users are grouped in specific interest, age, and other things to increase sales.<\/span><\/p>\n

direct billing flow:<\/span><\/strong> when a user pays via the mobile phone credit.<\/span><\/p>\n

direct buy: <\/span><\/strong>buying traffic directly from a website you like with no ad network involved.<\/span><\/p>\n

direct linking<\/span>:<\/span><\/strong> is when you put your affiliate link and no landing page after the click.<\/span><\/p>\n

disclosure:<\/span><\/strong> a few lines of text that explain that you are an affiliate. It’s required in most of the cases.<\/span><\/p>\n

domain authority:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>system created by MOZ<\/a> to rank the power of a website based on the backlinks portfolio.<\/span><\/p>\n

double opt-in<\/span> (DOI): <\/span><\/strong>it’s when a user confirms their email after they put their email in a form.<\/span><\/p>\n

duplicate content: <\/span><\/strong>it’s something you should avoid, you always need fresh content, duplicated is penalized.<\/span><\/p>\n

dynamic tracking:<\/span><\/strong> is a tool used by an affiliate to dig into stats.<\/span><\/p>\n

feeder site:<\/span><\/strong> a spam website that redirects feed traffic to other sites.<\/span><\/p>\n

fired pixel: <\/span><\/strong>pixels are used to track users when a pixel is fired it means that the affiliate link is being clicked.<\/span><\/p>\n

first click: <\/span><\/strong>some programs give a commission to an affiliate from the first click only. It doesn’t matter who clicked after the first click.<\/span><\/p>\n

frequency capping: <\/span><\/strong>t<\/span>he number of impressions a user will see an ad in a specific amount of time.<\/span><\/p>\n

GAN: <\/strong>generative adversarial network is an ad that is able to trick the human mind.<\/p>\n

GEO target<\/span>: <\/span><\/strong>is when you target a specific country.<\/span><\/p>\n

gray hat SEO: <\/span><\/strong>are half way between black hat and white hat SEO, you should avoid these practices.<\/span><\/p>\n

hit: <\/span><\/strong>one single request from a browser.<\/span><\/p>\n

HTML<\/span>: <\/span><\/strong>the easiest programming language used to visualize stuff on browser front end.<\/span><\/p>\n

hyperlink<\/span>: <\/span><\/strong>a link.<\/span><\/p>\n

impression<\/strong>: the number of times something is seen by a user without clicking.<\/span><\/p>\n

index: <\/span><\/strong>is a file that engines follow when crawling sites.<\/span><\/p>\n

indie program: <\/span><\/strong>i<\/span>ndependent affiliate program its the same as in house.<\/span><\/p>\n

influencer: <\/span><\/strong>people that have a big audience on social media or websites.<\/span><\/p>\n

internal linking<\/span>: <\/span><\/strong>the process of creating relevant links on the content to increase rankings.<\/span><\/p>\n

PPS<\/span>:<\/span><\/strong> pay per sign up, you will get paid 1 fixed commission when a user buys something.<\/span><\/p>\n

prelander<\/span>: <\/span><\/strong>page displayed before a landing page, it can be a quiz or something awesome.<\/span><\/p>\n

privacy policy: <\/span><\/strong>a bunch of words and terms you should read and put on your site.<\/span><\/p>\n

profit: <\/span><\/strong>the money you actually earn on top of the ones you spend.<\/span><\/p>\n

publisher:<\/span><\/strong><\/span> the owner of a website or an affiliate.<\/span><\/p>\n

raw clicks<\/span>: <\/span><\/strong>clicks even from the same user, they are usually more than unique links.<\/span><\/p>\n

reciprocal links:<\/span><\/strong> links created from webmasters to increase rankings.<\/span><\/p>\n

recurring commissions<\/span> (revshare): <\/span><\/strong>you will get paid for a lifetime a percentage of the sale amount.<\/span><\/p>\n

redirection<\/span>: <\/span><\/strong>a process that allows you to redirect traffic somewhere else.<\/span><\/p>\n

referring domain: <\/span><\/strong>a domain that referred the traffic to a link or website.<\/span><\/p>\n

referring URL: <\/span><\/strong>URL that referred the traffic to a site.<\/span><\/p>\n

return on investment<\/span> (ROI): <\/span><\/strong>r<\/span>eturn of investment, the money you are really making from a campaign.<\/span><\/p>\n

root domain: <\/span><\/strong>the base URL of a domain.<\/span><\/p>\n

real-time bidding (RTB): <\/span><\/strong>bidding through auctions.<\/span><\/p>\n

search engine<\/a>: <\/span><\/strong>g<\/span>oogle and bing are search engines and used to search for stuff on the net.<\/span><\/p>\n

search engine optimization<\/a> (SEO): <\/span><\/strong>complex <\/span>process needed to rank a website on the internet.<\/span><\/p>\n

search term<\/span>: <\/span><\/strong>keyword that a user used before reaching onto your site.<\/span><\/p>\n

segment<\/span>: <\/span><\/strong>similar to demographics, Italy, Chrome, TIM is a segment.<\/span><\/p>\n

SEO affiliates: <\/span><\/strong>affiliates that focus on SEO more than paid ads.<\/span><\/p>\n

SERP:<\/span> <\/span><\/strong>search engine result page is what gets visualized on the search results on Google for instance.<\/span><\/p>\n

single offer:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>offer designed for a specific segment.<\/span><\/p>\n

single opt-in<\/span> (SOI): <\/span><\/strong>no email confirmation (DOI) required to earn money.<\/span><\/p>\n

sitemap<\/span>: <\/span><\/strong>list of all the URLs of a website so that crawlers can figure out all the pages better.<\/span><\/p>\n

smartlink<\/span>:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>affiliate links that constantly change offers based on the segment\/GEO.<\/span><\/p>\n

SMS billing flow: <\/span><\/strong>consumers need a sim card in order to start the billing process.<\/span><\/p>\n

social marketers: <\/span><\/strong>affiliates that rely on social media traffic to bring sales.<\/span><\/p>\n

spam<\/span>: <\/span><\/strong>unwanted email or anything that is annoying and useless.<\/span><\/p>\n

spider detection: <\/span><\/strong>it’s when you disallow certain spiders from crawling your site via the robots.txt.<\/span><\/p>\n

spiders<\/span>: <\/span><\/strong>it’s the same as crawlers, read above. They scan your sites and understand it for engines.<\/span><\/p>\n

split testing<\/span>: <\/span><\/strong>or A\/b testing is the process of testing the same offer under two different angles.<\/span><\/p>\n

spot: <\/span><\/strong>it’s the place meant for advertisement.<\/span><\/p>\n

squeeze page: <\/span><\/strong>a landing page with no other elements such as menus meant only to capture leads.<\/span><\/p>\n

subdomain:<\/span><\/strong> it’s a domain part of the root domain. i.e: subdomain.marcodiversi.com<\/span><\/p>\n

super affiliates<\/a>: <\/span><\/strong>affiliates that generate a huge amount of cash and that deserve payout bumps.<\/span><\/p>\n

supply-side platforms (SSP):\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>interface that gather publishers and exchanges.<\/span><\/p>\n

sweepstakes: <\/span><\/strong>are used to do lead generation in exchange for a price or a lottery.<\/span><\/p>\n

syndication: <\/span><\/strong>it’s when a big website arranges something with another big site in order to get more traffic.<\/span><\/p>\n

targeted marketing: <\/span><\/strong>it’s when you are focused on targeting a specific segment only.<\/span><\/p>\n

text link<\/span>: <\/span><\/strong>it’s a link only with no images or other forms of media around.<\/span><\/p>\n

tier<\/span>: <\/span><\/strong>there are different tiers based on the GEO, richest countries are tier 1, poorer countries tier 4 for instance. you will get more money from the richest countries.<\/span><\/p>\n

token: <\/span><\/strong>tokens are used by ad networks to improve the quality of traffic.<\/span><\/p>\n

top-level domain<\/span> (TLD): <\/span><\/strong>it’s the part of the domain after the domain. i.e: — .it — it’s the Italian TLD.<\/span><\/p>\n

TOS: <\/span><\/strong>terms of service are a set of rules that users should respect.<\/span><\/p>\n

tracking code: <\/span><\/strong>pixel that will track conversions.<\/span><\/p>\n

tracking method: <\/span><\/strong>whatever method used to track clicks.<\/span><\/p>\n
